Healthy Eating and Exercising
It is so easy to list off things that may prevent me from eating healthy and exercising but as I list things it becomes more obvious that there really is not anything preventing me form healthy eating and exercising but myself. I started off my list with things such as lack of time, exhaustion, convenience, laziness, and fatigue. Then I began to think about what I do when I actually do have time and it appears I may be making the wrong choices. Making good choices are sometimes easier said than done. I work two jobs (one of which is for LA County and the other in retail) and attend LASC full time as an online student. Without running down my whole schedule I will just say that I am a very busy person. My daily schedule does not even include day to day friends and family issues that may come up. When I am not working I am attempting to focus in school. With all this said I maintain I am the only thing preventing me from eating healthy and exercising. I say this because I am very on and off when it comes to eating healthy and exercising. I get in the mood where I am going to take charge of my life and health and begin to do all the right things like cooking at home and going to the gym and then I sink back into drive thru dining and succumb to my laziness. I found a gym five minutes from work to help me stay motivated but as soon as I get off job number one I speed home to plop down on the couch and enjoy some good junk food and watch my favorite reality shows (Real Housewives). I do a little homework then I’m off to sleep (only if I don’t get called into job number two).

I absolutely understand where you are coming from. So many times, I have found it easier to just get fast food because I simply did not feel like cooking after a long day. With my mind set the way it is,if I don't make attempts to eat right, there is no way I'm going to make time for the gym.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to rearrange our schedule sometimes to fit it all in, but for the sake of our health we have to do it. I get on my health kicks and find that once I really commit to exercising on a regular basis, my diet gets better too. Because I am more aware of my body and how exercise is benefiting me I am more careful of whats going into it. Once you make time to exercise (most times that's the hardest part), everything else falls into place.
Lean I understand where you are coming from. I have found it easier to eat fast food beacuase i work at the mall were it is fast food all around and when i get off i dont have time to cook, but my advice to you is before you go to work record (real housewives) so when you get off work you can go to the gym for about 30 min and then you can go home and plop on the couch and watch your show but if its to late just start it as a new year resolution."Good Luck".
ReplyDeleteWhoo! The fast food call! I completely understand. Well, i used to work a full time job and went to school (on campus) full time in the evenings so l had a very full day as well however I found that I could fit in exercise before I went into my first job. I know, i know that's so early in the morning but I found that if i got it done first thing in the morning not only did i have more energy for my day I also accomplished a great goal!
ReplyDeleteI hope this helps : )
I can totally see where you are coming from. With such a busy schedule like that I would find it hard to do certain things also such as exercising and cooking. And when you do have free time you seem to enjoy it doing the things that you like doing. So it seem like the things withholding you from eating right and exercising are time and convenience.
ReplyDeleteI understand very clearly what you are going through. I had once one job, but I was taking 2 classes at LACC, and 5 at CSULA. I know that feeling when you are caught running back and forth and you don't even have time to sit and relax. I know that one good example is the energizer bunny, but that is not healthy. It made me sick. I ended up in the hospital because my sugar levels were to high. Now, I'm forced to eat healthy and exercise. It's not fun when you are forced to exercise and watch what you eat.
